That would be us.

Staci is the maker, scent-obsessed creative brain + Dead Head honcho behind Grateful Merchant Co. She develops the fragrances, designs the goods, makes the stuff and has been known to spend an unreasonable amount of time deciding exactly how something should smell.

Chip is the behind-the-scenes man of mystery, resident problem solver + endlessly supportive partner in all of this. Less likely to be holding a fragrance bottle. More likely to be figuring out how to fix whatever Staci broke while holding one.

Together, we’re a tiny operation making things we genuinely love and sending them out into the world from Pennsylvania.

WE MAKE STUFF THAT SMELLS GOOD.

That’s the short version.

The slightly longer version? Grateful Merchant Co. is a small, independent home fragrance company making handcrafted candles, incense, reed diffusers, personal fragrance + other good-smelling things inspired by music, memory, and whatever happens to spark an idea around here.

There’s a definite Grateful Dead thread running through it all. If you know, you know. But you don’t need to be a Deadhead to get on the bus. You just have to appreciate a really good smell.

THE STUFF THAT SMELLS GOOD

We make everything in small batches, with a lot of care and absolutely no interest in smelling like everybody else.

CANDLES // Hand-poured using thoughtfully chosen plant-based wax blends, quality fragrance oils + cotton or FSC-certified wooden wicks. Made for a beautiful burn and, obviously, an excellent smell.

INCENSE // Our longtime favorite. Bamboo-derived activated charcoal sticks + cones are hand-dipped in fragrance blends we create ourselves. Smoky, fragrant little overachievers.

REED DIFFUSERS // Flame-free fragrance for the places where lighting something on fire might be frowned upon. Made with a VOC-compliant diffuser base and our own fragrance blends.

PERSONAL FRAGRANCE // Because apparently making your house smell good wasn’t enough. Our small-batch Eau de Parfums take the Grateful Merchant scent obsession somewhere a little more personal. Layered, unexpected + designed to smell like you, not the fragrance counter. Wear accordingly.

SCENT BLENDING // This is where we really nerd out. Instead of simply pouring a stock fragrance straight from the bottle and calling it a day, we blend fragrance + essential oils to create scents that feel like ours. Unexpected combinations, familiar things turned slightly sideways, and names that occasionally require knowing your way around a record collection.

WE TRY NOT TO BE JERKS TO THE PLANET.

We’re a small business, not a perfectly sustainable fragrance utopia. But we make thoughtful choices wherever we can.

That means choosing recyclable, reusable + repurposable materials, keeping unnecessary packaging to a minimum, and paying attention to what goes into the products we make and the boxes we send them in.

We’d rather tell you what we’re actually doing than slap a bunch of leafy buzzwords on it and call ourselves eco-anything.

MOSTLY, WE’RE JUST REALLY GRATEFUL YOU’RE HERE.

For supporting something made by actual humans. For shopping small. For letting our weird little scent ideas live in your homes. And for the music that keeps inspiring all of it.
